Real homeschooling educators
We only charge the cost of the subscription plus any applicable taxes, but the REAL cost depends on how you decide to incorporate our courses into your homeschool. Here are some examples of recommended supplies in our courses:
1. Beginners History: the book used as a spine for the course and note-taking supplies
2. American History: pencil and paper
We make the effort to use free or cheap materials and books but you are free to substitute or skip any suggested supply to fit your needs.
Congratulations on making the switch! Homeschooling isn’t easy but it is very rewarding. Here is our recommendation, but you can rearrange and adjust it as you see fit.
1. The first thing you need to do is know your state laws. Each state makes its own laws regarding homeschooling, so it’s important to read them and make sure you are compliant to avoid any legal issues.
2. Then you should evaluate your student to see where they are in their academics. Did the school pass them along even though they needed more time in a subject for mastery or is there a subject they were held back in when they were ready to go farther and deeper into their studies?
3. Watch your student while they are learning and determine which method of learning they enjoy most, their favorite subject, their interests, etc. Think of ways to incorporate these strengths and interests into your homeschool which will make it more interesting for your student and you’ll have less push-back from them.
4. Research educational styles. This is one of the biggest hurdles of homeschooling. Not every teaching style works for every student, or even every subject, and finding the best fit is often trial and error. If at first you don’t succeed with a particular educational style, that’s okay, just try another style until you find the right fit. Also, if you have multiple students homeschooling in your household, keep in mind that one educational style might work for one student but not for another. The major educational styles are: Classical, Charlotte Mason, Montessori, Unschooling, Unit Studies, Roadschooling, Waldorf, Traditional, and Eclectic.
5. Next, you’ll want to look at your schedule. Do you want to school year-round, follow your local school district’s calendar, a unique schedule (like 8 weeks on, then 2 weeks off), or are you bound by a law that dictates when you homeschool? What days and times can you devote to homeschooling and prep time? Do you have any activities or appointments that are set in stone and how can you fit homeschooling around them?
6. Consider what strengths and weaknesses you have and how you will overcome them. Do you struggle with a particular subject and want to out-source help? Do you have someone in your support circle that is willing and able to help you teach those problematic subjects/topics? Does your local school offer assistance with academics and are you comfortable using them? Are there resources you could incorporate into your homeschooling to help ease any burdens you might be stressing over?
7. Now it’s time to look into curriculum and resources that will meet your student where they are academically, meet your state law requirements, and fit your schedule. If you’re super busy, you probably don’t want a curriculum with a ton of prep work. If your student is on different levels for a variety of subjects, a boxed curriculum likely won’t be worth the money.
At Forever Homeschooling, we have a wide variety of courses you can incorporate into your homeschooling. We offer complete course flexibility to allow you to watch LIVE or on replay as well as complete entire lessons or skip parts of it. We have LIVE clubs to help foster their communication skills and allow them to talk about their favorite video game or hobby with other students that are also interested in the same thing. With posts and comments, students can collaborate with each other or share their homeschool work which boosts their motivation because the more they do, the more they can share. We also have Open House once per month to offer support for parents/guardians and build our community. We are here to support you. If you have any questions, you can always email us at support@foreverhomeschooling.com.
Each student will need their own email to log in to their account on our website. We suggest looking into Google Family Link or something similar which allows children under 13 years old to create an email account with a link to their parent’s account for parental controls and safety settings.
Display names and answers to profile questions are the only account information visible to other members. Content posted on our website by students using social features are visible to members just like any other social platform.
We got you covered with video tutorials to make it easy to learn how to find and use our features.
There are several differences between the two types of accounts. Students can post, comment, upload, manage their profile, join groups, and interact with each other. Parents/guardians do not have access to social features and therefore cannot interact with students. Only parent/guardian accounts have access to view and manage their family’s billing information and join the Open House. Also, affiliate links in course descriptions are presented as hyperlinks for parent/guardian accounts but plain text for student accounts.
Each month, we host a LIVE video-based Open House which is also shared on Facebook to talk about what’s new, give announcements, and answer any questions.
All product links, including affiliate links, are only visible through parent/guardian accounts. Student accounts can only see plain text where link to products are displayed. We will mention that certain books or products are suggested for the course so students can let their parent/guardian know, but students will not be able to see or click on any product links.
Send us an email and we will help you get them set up.
You can cancel from your membership settings within your parent/guardian account. We recommend cancelling at least 48 hours before the payment is due to avoid unwanted charges. Due to the digital nature of our website and the free trial you are given at signup, we do not offer refunds.
Courses
ALL courses and clubs are included in your subscription. This means each of your students can take any number of courses at any time. Students can keep track on their progress within their personal Learning Dashboard.
We welcome everyone to join us LIVE no matter how many lessons we’ve finished beforehand.
A lot! Click here to see a list of the current LIVE courses and clubs we offer.
Lessons are uploaded along with any additional resources and information within 3 days so you can watch them whenever you have time. Clubs are not uploaded to the website.
Our educators do not teach from a religious perspective. Religion may be discussed because it is a huge part of history but it will always be discussed in a non-biased manner. We do not encourage nor discourage religion, but we do have rules in place to protect everyone. Mentions of religious belief are allowed if they are pertinent to the conversation, do not have the intent to convert others, and are not used to frustrate other people. The approval of content that includes religious content will be determined on a case-by-case basis and at our sole discretion.
We provide assignments, extra resources, worksheets, and/or activities. You decide what your student does or doesn’t do.
We teach year-round, but we take holidays and short breaks throughout. There is a calendar available in the menu so you know we’re on break.
We cannot control things like family emergencies, power outages, or technical issues. In the event we need to cancel a lesson or club, we will post a notice in the Announcement section of the affected course or club as soon as possible.
Social Features
We provide students with features that allow them to share, collaborate, or just hang out with each other. They can create posts, comment on each other’s posts, show what they are working on in their homeschool, share their latest story, join groups and talk about what they learned in one of our courses, etc. Posts and comments support image and document uploading as well as emojis.
Please note: For the safety of our young members, social content which include identifying information like names, addresses, etc., will be rejected in moderation.
When a student account is created, a randomized character is automatically generated for their profile picture. We are working on a way to moderate profile pictures before we allow students to upload their own.
The safety of our members is of the utmost importance to us. All posts, comments, and uploads to the website are monitored by our team. We also have a system that places posts and comments under moderation which means other students cannot can see what was posted before our team has a chance to review it. This helps us protect our community of students from bullying or accidentally sharing personal information.
Important: Each post and comment will have a delay between when a student submits it and when it becomes visible to other students due to our moderation review process. We moderate posts and comments between 10am and 11pm EST every day of the week excluding any major holidays.
Technology
Device: We highly recommend using a computer/laptop for joining LIVE lessons because phones and tablets have an awful echo with the audio. The rest of the website will work on any device with browsing capabilities.
Internet speed: We recommend at least 10 Mbps download speed and 3 Mbps upload speed for joining LIVE lessons. If you are watching recorded lessons, we recommend at least 3 Mbps download speed.
Accessories: If you are using a tablet or mobile device, we ask that you use headphones to eliminate the auditory echo caused by those types of devices when they are used without headphones.
There’s 2 ways to join us LIVE. We use Zoom as a video host which means you’ll need to download their service in order to join that way. If you don’t want to download Zoom, we offer an “in browser” option which doesn’t require any 3rd party services, though it does have limited features.
